Institutional research is when there is a company or an organisation which support different areas in media. There are all kinds of different institutions which are there for different purposes which work together. Every institution has something called there ideology which is something they stick to which the public can read and then see if they do. A institution which is a well known and very popular is Disney this is because they institute all kinds of different films like pirates of the Caribbean to Cinderella they also promote the characters which are involved in the films at Disney world which children fall in love with and then want to be a pirate or a princess.
Since our film Edds dead baby is categorised as a thriller Disney wont be the institution of our film this is because Disney is purely for family things and if they did decided to institute our film they would be taking away the magic from Disney which people would disagree with and not like. So I think the institution that will distribute my film is most probably either going to be new line cinema or universal I think this is because those institutions do a mixture of different genres but they still doing horrors and thrillers and that’s why I have picked that institution and as you have seen from my textural analysis the thriller film called fast and furious I did my textural analysis on shows that there institution was universal so this is my reason why as well due to my research the thriller I did my textual analysis on was distributed by universal.
What I have learnt from doing institutional research is that it is important to have an institution to support your film otherwise you wouldn’t be able to do. I have also learnt about how different institutions support different types of genres and they dont have to have a particular genre to support.
